According to sources, it is noted that based on the National Payments Corporation of India (NPI)’s unified payment interface, this payment feature works with more than 227 banks. These transactions support a live payment system. Earlier this year, WhatsApp appointed Manesh Mahatma as the head of the payment business in India.
Manesh Mahatma came to Facebook’s messaging platform after spending about seven years on Amazon Pay India, where he was a director and later a board member. He also spent four years at Airtel Money, Airtel’s payment unit.
