South Korean company Samsung is the world’s largest maker of smartphones with a market share of 19%. Chinese company Xiaomi has overtaken Apple to become the world’s second-largest smartphone maker. According to Canalys, Xiaomi will overtake Apple as the world’s second-largest smartphone maker in the second quarter of 2021. These figures are reported based on the sales made in the market.
South Korean company Samsung is the world’s largest maker of smartphones with a market share of 19%. At the same time, Xiaomi has a market share of 17 per cent. Xiaomi smartphone sales grew 300 per cent in Latin America, 150 per cent in Africa and 50 per cent in Western Europe in the last quarter. Xiaomi’s flagship model, the MI11 Ultra, has seen a huge jump in sales, according to market research firm Canalys.
At the same time, the report says that Xiaomi is facing challenges from other Chinese smartphone companies, Oppo and Vivo. The report does not rule out the possibility of Xiaomi overtaking Samsung to become number one if the same growth continues. Mi Note 10, dominates Xiaomi’s sales and other mid-range Mi phones.
Apple, meanwhile, had a 14 per cent market share in the new quarter. Other Chinese brands, Oppo and Vivo, have a 10 per cent market share. According to market analysts, the decline of WAVO greatly benefited as a premium brand by Chinese companies.
